Overview

I led a team to rebrand Flamboyán, a nonprofit focused on connecting Puerto Ricans in Denver to their roots and sharing Boricua stories. Through close collaboration with the founder, we developed a new logo that reflects the organization’s cultural mission, then created a full brand guide to establish a cohesive visual identity. From there, we extended the new branding across key touchpoints, including a website refresh, event poster, sub-brand, t-shirt designs, and social media templates. The result is a unified, vibrant brand that more effectively communicates Flamboyán’s purpose and strengthens its connection with the community.

The Problem

Flamboyán’s original branding didn’t reflect its mission of connecting Puerto Ricans in Denver to their roots and sharing Boricua stories. The organization needed a visual identity that embodied community, culture, and its deep ties to Puerto Rican heritage.

My Process

I led a small design team to rebrand Flamboyán, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting Puerto Ricans in Denver to their roots and sharing Boricua stories. We met with the founder to fully understand the organization’s mission and values. From there, we conducted a collaborative and iterative design process—exploring multiple logo concepts, gathering feedback, and refining until we landed on a mark that captured cultural identity and community spirit. I helped shape the visual direction, contributing to logo design, brand elements, and a detailed brand guide. We then applied the new identity across critical touchpoints, including a refreshed website, a promotional poster, a sub-brand, merchandise, and social media assets. The result is a cohesive, vibrant brand system that brings clarity and energy to Flamboyán’s outreach and presence.

My Designs

We created a new logo featuring the flamboyant flower—native to Puerto Rico—integrated with a human figure to emphasize connection and community. From there, we developed a brand guide. We extended the new identity across key touchpoints, including a refreshed website, a poster for an upcoming production, merchandise designs, and social media templates.

Conclusion

The result is a unified, vibrant brand that brings Flamboyán’s mission to life. The rebrand strengthens the organization’s identity and better reflects its role in celebrating Puerto Rican culture and stories within the Denver community.
